Sedation at
Church Street Dental Arts

Does going to the dentist make you feel nervous? If you have dental phobia or experienced a less-than-pleasant visit earlier on in life, you may find that you’ve become an expert at avoiding dental checkups.

But all of that avoidance can set your smile up for undiagnosed conditions that compound themselves into complex problems and dental emergencies. Thankfully, Church Street Dental Arts can help. Dr. Vipul Patel is certified to provide in-house sedation dentistry to help you relax through any dental procedure.

Types of Dental Sedation in Goshen

Church Street Dental Arts offers different types of sedation dentistry to fit your individual situation. Dr. Vipul Patel will visit with you to discuss your goals, expectations, and medical history. Please be sure to let us know of any recent surgeries you’ve had, medications that you take, or if you’re allergic to anything.

Inhalation Conscious Sedation Dentistry

The lightest type of sedation that we offer in our Goshen office is Nitrous Oxide (aka “laughing gas”). Nitrous is an inhalation sedation that you breathe in through your nose, via a soft mask. It starts working within just a few minutes, helping you feel relaxed, care-free, and sometimes tingly in your fingers and toes. It’s quickly reversible, so you’ll be able to drive home without any lingering side effects.

Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry

If you need a deeper sedation, oral sedatives may be ideal. You take this medication by mouth about an hour before your treatment is scheduled to start. Most people will feel like they’re taking a nap, but you’ll still be able to answer simple questions. The amnesic affects make it so that you’re unlikely to remember much about the appointment.
